For all of the printers that I have ever owned, I have managed (eventually) to fill them up and stop buying refills. I am amazed that printer manufacturers get away with selling cheap printers, then making their money on over-priced refills.
Anyhow, I have no idea who else refills their printers, but I thought I would start this thread to see what other people do... experiences good and bad.
I recently got an Epson WF 2750, and tried to inject ink in the cartridges, but there seemed no way that the software would allow it to print due to the chip embedded in it. Basically, as far as it was concerned, a new EPSOM cartridge must be bought.
I searched the web, and seemingly there is no way around this on this Epsom model. On our previous Cannon, there was a hard-to-fathom work-around, and I refilled that for several years.
Back to our Epson. I found a company on Ebay who sold non-genuine empty cartridges that you can fill up endlessly. After some faffing, and emailing the supplier, I managed to get it to work. Its now printing fine, but a bit annoying that it frequently puts up a message.... "you have non genuine cartridges.... are you sure you want to print"
It would be useful if someone collated a list of printers with information about viability/practicalities of injecting ink. I for one would like to know what printers are fill-yourself friendly. Does this list exist???
Anyone else refilling cartridges??
